  • Please help - Is it statute barred? Solicitors after me...

    Hello
I was contacted by debt solicitors about a CC debt going back to 2005 for around £10K. It was with 2 different debt collectors. I was sent copy of redacted default notice, copy of welcome letter to debt company, assignment letter, copy of a computer screen shot default 2010,, after I asked for Agreement/contract, default notice and notice of assignment. There is nothing with my signature on it. Is this debt statute barred? The first contact I had with solicitors was last month I asked for paperwork . The most recent date on what I think is an Assignment document from different debt collectors is 2013. Many thanks for help I don't know what to do. I don't have that sort of money.

I would say this is statute barred, if the date is older then 6 years. It wouldn't be statute barred if you made any contact and/or payments towards the debt in this time. The 6 years essentially starts again. There is a template you can use. I have used this before with success.

There is a statute barred letter template in the shortcuts panel on this page.
