  • Default on file from Lowell

    Hello helpful friendly people

I recently applied for an increase in our business overdraft and was declined and told to check my credit report.

I found on my credit report that Lowells had applied a default total £316 for an unpaid debt from 2008 to Vertbaudet Childrens Clothing catalogue.

I did recieve a Red bill from Lowells about 6 months ago, which i immediatly arranged a payment plan to settle off the debt.

I didnt know it would appear on my credit file, and wasnt told it would appear there either.

I had thought id paid the debt in 2008, when the catalogue ( vertbaudet - La redoute ) chased me for payment in full after i had moved to a different address. But it appears the payment was for only one account ( i had two one a Vertbaudet and one at LA Redoute )

It seems i am now paying for a genuine mistake, and this entry will stay on file file for another 20 months if i have my facts right.

I was thinking of writing to Vertbaudet / La Redoute ( same company ) and Lowells and explaining my situation in hope of getting the defualt removed.

Does anyone have any advice? I have been honest in explaining everything that i can remember.

    Thanks

Re: Default on file from Lowell

I have THREE defaults on my credit file from Lowell and am a fully paid up member of the 'I hate Lowell' club. They LOVE putting defaults on peoples files. I am surprised that you were turned down for a loan on the back of a relatively old default for only £316. Are you sure that is all that it was?

Are you starting up a new business or already have one?

I would recommend you contact the catalogue company first. Lowell are a law onto themselves.
