  • Dwf £150 sainsburys fine + assualted

Me and my friend went into a Sainsbury’s and he decided to steal a crisps and a biscuit packet. During this he asked me to put the chips into his bag so I did. He was trying to walk out when we got stopped and the security physically abused us and took us to the back. From there we gave the items back which I had none on me. Then the security punched me for absolutely no reason , over and over again . I had bruises , cut lip ,swollen areas, 3 grown men punching a minor , a worker also joined in for the fun of it. Now I’ve received a letter from DWF asking for £150. The police got involved since I got abused and took details , the staff turns their body cameras off and took us to the back with no cameras to hit us (minors). What do I do in this situation.

    Ignore DWF.

What action are the police taking about the assault?

Since we are minors , police took their word over ours , they said that we’re lucky that we got let off with just a shoplifting warning. However i didn’t even have anything on me. The security said that I had hit him first which is a complete lie. Several times I’ve asked them to check the staff body cams which were all off for some reason. They haven’t done anything which is disappointing as the security were just taking their anger out on me.

So the police have actually told you that they have investigated the assault on you and decided to take no further action?

How long ago did this happen?

How old are you and your friend?

Ignore DWF. They can't issue you with fines, only a court can do that. Do a search on this forum for DWF and you will see what we always advise and what other people have reported.

I’ve tried getting them to investigate, but since the security dragged us into the back room where there was no cameras and the staff turnt their cameras off. The police wasn’t doing anything about it. You have no idea to what extent me personally was being assaulted at. This happened on 25th September, I haven’t done anything about it because I’m very unaware of what to do to be honest. We are both 16. Thank you for your replies by the way , much appreciated

I also asked specifically if any letters will be sent home , both police and the store manager or the higher up at the store said No. and gave me a letter saying I’m banned from every store which isn’t much of an issue for me

How old did you tell Sainsbury's that you are?

Contact your local MP if what you say happened.

I'm pretty sure the security guards wouldn't have 'punched' you, they might of been 'heavy handed' i.e. pushed you etc.

If they 'punched' you, the security guards know the 'consequence' they would be sacked. Same with the staff member.

                  1st Reply : I told Sainsbury’s that I was 16 infront of the police
2nd reply: No seriously, I’m not stretching anything or over exaggerating, I had 2-3 men punching me and taking their anger out on me. After the incident , I had a busted lip , marks on my head, swollen on the side of my head, and cuts elsewhere. Honestly it’s still a shock that it happened to me, they took us to a room with no cameras and apparently the body cams of the staff were off. They stood there and done nothing but allow it to take place. A random employee also joined in and started punching me aswell on the back of my head. The store manager took him away so he avoids getting in trouble. I’ll try get in contact with the MP of the area as I’m not living there.
