Hi guys, I’m wondering if anyone can help.
I recently noticed that I have a default on my account from August 2020 on an e.on account for a property I left in Feb 2020. I have to be honest, as for many people times were incredibly tough for us in 2020 and, in the end I entered an arrangement to settle the bill with e.on in August.
However, they registered a default without giving notice of their intention to do so. Having discussed this with e.on, they say they sent this default notice to our old address, despite me having given them our new address when I closed the account back in February.
My view is that, obviously if I’d known they were about to register a default, I would have prioritised this bill over others (at the time we were just trying to keep a roof over our heads) but without seeing the default notice, I thought we still had time to settle.
Do I have an argument here? And, if so, how do you find a lawyer that can help?
Thanks very much!
