  • Defaults and Settled Dropping off

    Hi all just wanted to ask you very knowledgeable people when it says a Default will drop off my file after 6 years does it just disappear or do I have to do something to get it off so that people searching my credit file can't see it?? Also a settled account when do they disappear please. Thank you.

    It should drop of your file without you needing to do anything, if it doesnt then contact the credit reference agencies and ask that it be removed.

      Thanks Teaboy got one going on the 29 June 2012 and one on 21 Sep 2012 then there is nothing on there. I have got one account saying that I was late with a payment but this was an online account and I asked them to move the direct debit date so the money went on that day can I get that changed ????

          That late payment will not have any inpact on your credit rating, though if you have the relevant documents as mentioned by Millitant above, you can ask the company whom that account is connected to to correct the late payment on your fil to show as being paid on time. Though i would not bank on them doing so.

              Different companies use different agencies. The agencies only report what has been reported to them, so out of CRA's x, y and z if I report to x and y, z won't show the information that x and y do.
