  • Two Defaults For Same Debt. Date differs on defaults.

Hello, I am in need of some advice.

I recently gained access to my credit file and found I have 2 defaults. I received 1 through a credit card company marbles. a lot of stuff went wrong at the time, I fell behind and a default was reported. After 3 months they sold the debt onto Cabot. The original default on my account is still there but it went from the owed amount to 0. Cabot decided to report a new default 3 months on with the amount in full owned on the marbles account.

Now on my credit report it is showing 2 defaults for the same debt but the default notice is 3 months apart.

I wasn't aware you could get 2 defaults for the same debt or be able to change the date of the default. I phoned up Cabot about this and they said it happens when we buy a debt and it shouldn't effect my credit report because they are the same default. I feel someone is telling me porkies here.

Not too sure what to do here any advice would be great.

    regards,
    DT.
