  • Statutory Demand

On 17th June a man called at my house asked for me bY name and handed me satutory demand for a collection of debTs from a company Hamptons legal . When I questioned him all he said was I don't work for them I only deliver .However the dOcument was not enclosed in an envelope & from his response he had obviously read most of it , plus he had other forms for other people in full view in a clear sellophane pocket. Would this be a breach of the data protection allowing anyone to view your private information. That's my first concern plus he offered no identification. Not expecting this he did catch me a bit off guard & afterwards I think i should have asked a few more questions at the time.
However after visiting here and getting some ideas of what to do . I sent a CCA request letter for each of the accounts plus the £1 fee for each one by special delivery to Hamptons legal & have just had a letter back saying that they have written to the companies concerned requesting copies of my agreements & will try and get back within the 12days if they can . In the meantime I have put together the relevant info to request that the statutory demand be set aside ( I am new to this have never had this happen before) but I haven't sudmitted it yet as I think working it out I have until 5thJuly( 18 days from the 17th) to do this . Does this mean that as they say they have written off for the documents that they never had authorisation to ask for the payments in the first place. Also after receiving the stat demand, a few days later I got a request from a company called Tocatto asking for payment of one of the debts . Looking it up I find that this firm is in the same area as Lowell, Red and Hamptons legal are they all the same people. Any advice would be appreciated . Sorry for being so long winded with my story.
