I purchased a car from a large reputable dealer through finance. I now wish to return the vehicle under section 99 of the consumer credit act 1974. It turns out that they arranged the finance through a third party. They tell me that I cannot return the vehicle and I must deal direct with the third party lender. The lender says it is a personal loan and I therefore cannot return the car but all my contract documentation is from the car dealer which states that they are the owners of the vehicle until the final payment on the vehicle is made. Can anyone tell me who my contract is with and what my next step should be?

Precisely what does your contract state regarding what type of agreement it is?
