  • News Flash!!

I went online and checked my bank account and found that Barclays had charged me £60 in the last 2 weeks for paid referral fees!!
I telephoned them and cheekily requested this to be refunded. The very nice lady at the call centre duly refunded this staightaway and also made a file complaint number for me to obtain my earlier charges, which I might add my husband has already put in a claim for and was advised this would be dealt with at the end of test case outcome!
With the outcome due for next week, it makes light reading into all of this going the consumers way do you all think????
Or am I making a mountain out of a mole hill???

        Re: News Flash!!

        Hiya everyone,

As you know Barclays have duley gave a new tarriff of charges should you go overdrawn or have a bounced DD.

I have been hit with £83 worth or charges since beginning of last month. I have telephoned customer services and they have duly informed me that the £32 of charges will stay because I did not have enough funds for 2 DD payments. They have then charged me another £16 for 2 guaranteed payments that I made via debit card making purchases which were done when funds were in the account and taken out of available balance to which they state that as they have guaranteed them they are going to charge me for this. I argued that this money was already taken from my available balance and was already paid just waiting to be transfered to payee. They said yes and as we guaranteed this money we have the right to charge you for this. I said how have you guaranteed this when payment was made using available funds? What have you guaranteed? I argue you cannot spend with you debit card what you dont have as it declines payment. I said as payment was already agreed and made using available money there is nothing for you to guarantee! I argue some more and state that it is a double whammy, you are now charging your customers for using their debit cards to make purchases out funds that available which leave theirt accounts 3 days later or so and as you call this a guaranteed payment you then charge them £8 for each one. I said I shall not be using my DD card to make purchases no more and will now only deal in cash!! The only other transactions on my account will be for direct debits...
