Started claim two against the halifax.
I wrote in my DPA request for a list of all charges to be sent rather than wasting reems of paper on statements. I pointed out that the cost too the bank and the environmental effect would be costlier than just a list of all charges. Surprise surprise, they did just that. I will not have all the trawling through statements, highlighting and copying. This is going to make filling out my spreadsheet so much easier.

    Best wishes,
    Hod........

      Re: Happyolddog V Halifax

Right gotta get this moving again, I might need some imput. I was sent some of the charges that had been incured but not all. I sent non-compliance letters to no avail. Phoned many times, still ignored. I have already done a six year claim on this account, I managed to get nearly £2000, The thing is I have held the account for 25 years, in that time I was very poorly and money was in short supply. When I was in hospital and in a coma my wife and three babies were kicked out of the house by the halifax, who subsequently sold it. I know the bank account charges in that period led to us losing the property and I now want to hurt them like they did us. Do I start from the beginning or where do I go? They have already had my £10 and not sent the copies of my statements, but that was the middle of last year.

      Thanks for reading,
      Hod...Liam..

        To remind Happy

Re-send a letter stating you asked for info many months ago and that nothing has arrived. Threaten complaining to the ICO for breach of 40 days and follow it up swiftly if nothing is received within a week

Hi Happy, I know you've said you've tried to call them, but who/where are you calling, just out of interest?

Hi, I have called this number, 08457 20 30 40, I also got a letter from them with a contacts name, phoned that twice and was totally ignored, any other number or contact you know of would be handy.

            Best wishes,

I am surprised because Halifax were very efficent with my claim so Liam ring the number you have and TELL the person you ge tthrough to that you want the number for legal depatment thats what I did and it worked.....Dont take no for an answer and if the person you are talking to cant provide you with it then ask to speak to someone in authority who can..

The reason I ask Happy is because that 0845 number is their online banking number, and after putting your sort code, account number and password, you can press *0 to get through to customer services. I've found that if I just ask them for some statements (without giving them a reason why) they'll send them for a fiver's charge, no matter how many I need. Sorry if it sounds like a stupid question but have you tried that? You could start by saying I need some statements, and then ask how far back they can provide them for and see where that gets you? I got pre-6yrs by just calling and asking Halifax and Barclays (although Barclays did say they only had 12 yrs worth of statements, but that covered my account). It may not work for you if they've already put notes down on your account and are being deliberately awkward, but tis just a thought. Obviously follow up the previous requests with the relevant letters in the meantime, but this may also be an idea?

Don't know if that helps or not...just say and I'll get my coat...

                  Re: Happyolddog V Halifax

Thanks for the imput, I have sent a letter today. Mainly because I am not too good on the phone and feared I might lose my wragg at some poor slave in a call centre. I will keep you posted of any developments.

I know the money will be into the thousands and I shall try and get as much out of them as possible. I intend to go for contractual interest as these b******* took my home due to these charges. So I might be picking your genius brains over the next few weeks as my brain is a bit wayward at the moment.

                  Thanks,
                  Hod...Liam..

No problem Happy, it's good that you've got the letter off, that'll get answers for you too. Keep us posted as usual...and no, you can't pick my brains...at least not the left side.

Ten days have passed since I sent the letter requesting they comply or I complain to the ICO. Still nothing received, so tomorrow I will send a letter of complaint to the ICO. Do I need to send them any sort of evidence?

                      Thanks,

                        Hi Happy,

I have reported a couple of banks to the ICO and just sent a copy of my letters and copied the recorded delivery slips also.

Well I don't rush things but today I finally bothered my ass and sent the letter off, giving them 7 days to send all details. Main reason it took me so long was immobility after brain and foot opps. Well the ball is rolling now, so lets see how I get on.

Got a letter today from the nice man at the Halifax, saying sorry for not dealing with my request, blah blah blah. He has taken responsibility for my claim and all of the statements will be with me by Friday. I have seen some great letters on here, so with permission, (yes I will ask first) I will be nicking copies.

I have made a six year claim from the halifax and got all charges back. I now intend to try to get back further charges. I now have 26 years of paperwork relating to my account. I have tried to decipher which are charges and which are transactions.........not easy because the codes they use to identify transactions have changed over that period. There was a period where a sum of £12 was taken every few days (I think that was a charge). Does anybody know the codes used by the Halifax 20+ years ago. I have the codes they use now and back 12 years.
