NatWest have a guaranteed to beat offer on as we speak. That package is a good one if you use the benefits. I have to totally disagree with that but i am considering a post on packaged accounts. Do not compare Barclays with NatWest(bank hat slipped on for this post).
Yeah I bet the person or persons who thought up that one is CEO now or basking in the Maldives. Yes they offer you discount on your loans, and then trick you into the ppi applied to the loan and make thousand on it on a useless policy that they will find any reason not to pay out on.

Oh and what about critical life insurance. They would only pay out on something terminal or mad cow's disease. Well I must have been a mad cow to fall for that one

the ppi is not part of the ADGD so you have no point in the link. PPI is cancellable within 14. Sorry non issue linking ppi into adgold. I am happy to talk about the 91% of claims that were paid out in 2006 if you want.

You linked PPI with adgd not me. While if you had taken the argument further by saying that ADGD is one of the most mis sold products natwest have, i would have agreed or that the PPI is a lot more expensive and equally mis sold again i would agree. I do not prescribe to the new memories emerging on PPI. I never claimed, so as i can claim and i could have got it cheaper elsewhere that it was missold. However, if you could not have claimed when it was taken out then yes that is misselling for me plain and simple.

nope because i would then have said surely you read things before you sign. They also have what is called a duty of care checklist as well. Which you sign to say you have understood. You sign for advantage gold to say you have read it. I never trick you into saying anything. But i do know the responses.
              Back to you

Not saying natwest do this, but Lloyd's have this check list printed on the front side of the direct debit mandate.

So as you sign the mandate you sign to agree the service or product was sold properly and unless advised different can be tricked into thinking its only for the DD agreement.

                    Anyway bank charges.

Think shops need to get a kicking here, in July alone, 2 payments from shops with debit card, one had been withheld 5weeks and 3 days, another 2 weeks and 6 days. so when they decide to take it the funds are £4 from zero. rather than available when I purchased them as planned.

I also have no overdraft facility, yet cash points tell me i have £10 to withdraw, i withdraw the £10 it takes me £4 over zero. WHY?

Why don't Cash points give out £5's anymore when they are legal tender.?

Why dont I get contacted by the banks offering me the service of bouncing my DD and allow me the choice to rectify the situation before it happens.?

Why do banks only allow money paid over the counter to register on your account the next day?

Why now can you not correct with in the same day the DD that made you go over drawn.?

It has all been changed to set people up, there is no other reason. the banks work against customers not for them. Putting money in a Fruit Machine will lose you money as its their to take your money not give it.

Banks are no different, the customers best interest will never proceed profit where there is a financial gain for the party supplying the service. Its the nature of the beast.

Re: Devils Advocate- why should i pay for your mistakes

I am going to go off topic on this one £5 is not commercially viable and do you know that the banks charge each other for even minor transactions?
With regards to other points raised with Direct Debits, the bank chooses not to be your mother nagging at you like a child if you have bought sweats and chocolate rather than fruit. Cash paid over the counter does register same day however due to the automation of the banking system, the cash has to register the previous working day prior to 3:30pm. If you believe cash points or switch machines then you will never get out of the cycle of charges. You can get from the bank something called a wallet register so you can record down all your transactions. In this age of internet banking you can check each one off the list until you know which one is left to go.
Loans Duty of Care Checklist with NatWest were introduced and i have to say this carefully that I believe it was brought in because of misselling. It requires that the customers signs it. Who would sign something without looking at what they were signing?

Everyone, just about. Because we are all such innocent, trusting creatures. Or should that be stupid?

Yes, I think that's right. Humans all tend to be born with the stupid gene built in. Which is why we never think to read what were are signing for until it comes back and bites us on the bum.

I reckon if we took a poll, most of us, if we were truthful, would admit that we never read all that terms and conditions and other legal mumbo jumbo nonsense before we sign our lives away. If we did, we'd never sign for anything, cos it's all there in black and white... SIGN HERE IF YOU WANT TO BE STITCHED UP.

                        Oh, dear.

But you can also vary the contract as well, as the banks do, by giving 30 days notice. It works both ways

CAN you? So if I was to write to my bank giving 30 days notice that I wish to stop paying their silly charges, I could do that?

Although I suspect I'd be told to take my overdraft elsewhere. So I assume they are not duty bound to continue a contact, just as were are entitled to pay up and go elsewhere if we don't like their new changes?

Yes.,and they have the right to reject it, same as you do.

So the choice is as before. Agree and sign, or go somewhere else where the T&C's are just as draconian.
