I'm in the process of trying to claim back PPI from Abbey National credit card and was informed that MBNA took over the cards in 2001 and I would have to claim from them. The latest info I got from MBNA was an account number to give to Abbey National, I did this and Abbey said it means nothing to them. Went back to MBNA and they denied ever giving me the number. There are 3 account numbers showing up with MBNA and they say none of them are anything to do with Abbey. MBNA have already rejected my claim for PPI from them and this has been sent on to FOS. MBNA also said that maybe the Abbey National card was "lumped" together with MBNA, surely they can't do this because the applications for the careds were from two different companies and in two different ways. Please help as I don't know what to do next and I'm determined the two companies are going to make me go away. The abbey National say that in order for them to pay out what they owe I have to produce a statement proving that I paid PPI prior to 2001, anyone any ideas how I can do this. Thanks for readind and sorry for rambling on.

Re: Abbey/Santander/MBNA PPI
Think a SDAR request may be in order it will cost you £10 and you SHOULD receive everything they have on you.
Is the letter you have a "final response" if so it should have included the FOS contact leaflet in which case you can go to them, it will take a while as they have been very busy, I am just over a year into one from Barclay's which they turned down.
Hopefully one of the more "in the know" good people here will be along as well.

Re: Abbey/Santander/MBNA PPI
Morning, thanks for your advice. MBNA have given me their final response and it has gone to FOS. The problem I've got is that I don't know if that includes my Abbey National Card, and MBNA can't, or won't, tell me. What is an SDAR. One interesting thing that did happen yesterday is that my husband got a letter from MBNA saying they were going to pay him so I got him to phone and ask what it was for and they told him it was for his Abbey National Card. I'm getting more annoyed all the time and I'm determined they're not getting away with it. I've registered with Experian aswell because apparently they can come up with stuff that others, the banks, won't. Anyway, thanks again.
