Have a read of Section 9, page 28 of this:

        http://www.lendingstandardsboard.org...endingcode.pdf

Although a Voluntary Code, all major banks subscribe to it, and it will help you know whether you are likely to fall into the category of suffering Financial Hardship.

thanks for pointing me in the right direction labman.

In all honesty I am still a little unclear what will be deemed as financial hardship etc. It give a overview but nothing defined. Do you suggest speaking to the bank direct or is that just a complete waste of time?

          Cheers

It does give indicators of financial hardship. Off the top of my head I can think of frequently returned Direct Debits, regular charges, unauthorised overdrafts etc....

Also, there is the issue of have they or you done anything to actually communicate with each other yet? If not, this would seem to be a sensible first course of action. Go armed with the Lending Code and relevant parts highlighted, but remember they are guidelines, not statute.

In terms of other things, if you are struggling with your finances, have you considered approaching one of the FREE debt advice charities such as CAB, Payplan, CCCS etc.... who will be able to give you help and advice?
