applying & collecting a passport the same day

is it still possible to go to petty france , victoria, london, passport office,
and fill out an application for a 10 year passport,

and still collect the new passport the same day, and also is their an extra cost involved for a personal service as such

i have been asked if i want to go on holiday at the last minute to the usa with a ticket at half price from a relation of mine, but i have less than six months left on my passport.

i went to the USA last year so i take it the ESA would still be valid

Personally I've used the check and send service at the Post Office a couple of times now, last year I had to renew/change my name when I got married, sent it on the Saturday and it was back the following Friday.
