How long should new debit pin take?

Right my friends....

Last Weds my hubby realised he did not have his Co op visa debit card when he went to pay for his shopping!
So of course he came home and cancelled straight away, then rang a shop he was in the day before, and yes someone from the store had handed it in, but of course it was too late then as hubby had cancelled and we realise it was ther right thing to do anyway - just in case.

Now Monday his replacement debit card arrived, but 9 days on since cancelling he is still waiting for his new pin!
However, when his replacement card did arrive on Monday, he did not realise he was to have a new pin (even though I assumed this is automatic), and we know they never send both pin and debit card the same time.

So he rang his bank Tuesday as no pin arrived yet, and he was told it was despatched last week, but they will send a reminder pin anyway.
So 2 days on since the reminder and still nothing!

We have been having post, so can't see it being any issues on the posting due to the recent bad weather.

However, today a few letters came through and one of them was NOT for us.
But the problem here is:
We have similar address to 3 other surrounding streets, ours for example is "Green", the other streets end with "Gardens/Road & Close".

I am now wondering if my hubby's pin number have gone to one of these addresses instead.
The name on the envelope that arrived in the post today was clear and nothing like ours, I ran round the corner to the postman he ignore me and was gone!

The family who's letter came to our address we believe are away for a few months. We will post this letter to them and maybe take a chance and knock first and ask if any of our letters have gone to them.

So, if anyone have had dealings with this bank, or may know how long a pin number should take arrive - please let me know, thanks.

I have just received a new card. The pin arrived about a week before the card. Not the same bank, but if I recall the pin has always arrived before the card.

I thought that when we first moved our accounts over to them over a year ago, the pin numbers arrived in the post a day before the debit cards, think hubby should contact them again to be sure, thanks X

5 working days from the point of it being ordered but with Christmas post it may take longer.

These were ordered last Weds, and the card arrived this Monday just gone.

Hubby rang them Tuesday and was told the pin number was despatched last week, and he should reach him by yesterday if not today the latest, yet he was also informed on the phone Tuesday they would send a further reminder pin just in case.

We're with co-op too. I cancelled a card two weeks ago. The new card arrived and the PIN arrived exactly one week later. I was on the verge of phoning them!

Hubby just rang them and they are stating that he should have received it by now, and confirmed it was sent out the same time as the debit card.

The guy also confirmed they received the reminder from Tuesday and this one should be with hubby by tomorrow, so we shall see.

I have a gut feeling that its been posted in the street next to ours, hubby returned their letter that was posted at our address, he did knock at their door, but they were not there, so he posted their letter, and we think they have already gone away for a month.

Yes generally it is 5-7 days after the request has been made, but I know some banks are now saying 10 days as the card is processed elsewhere and the pin automated in another place. Normally the PIN isnt changed if there were no transaction issues, anyway I guess what your thinking is probably correct gone to the wrong house!!

I was a little baffled in regards of a new pin as well, considering my hubby rang them back within mins of cancelling to confirm the store had the card handed in and we even confirmed the last direct debit which we were already aware of, so no transaction issues.

When my son was missing his wallet back a year ago, this was cancelled with the bank and (not the one we are with but Lloyds) sent him a new replacement card and no new pin, and he noticed his wallet missing in a night club.
He still uses the same pin to what i am aware of.

yes it happened to me to, hence why my card was replaced but they didnt send a new pin I used it for a week or so and then decided to be on the safe side and changed my pin.
I should ask him to change the PIN at some point you never know if anyone has access and just waiting for the time that some worthwhile funds go into the account before they pounce!!

Well an update....

Hubby still waiting for PIN despite contacting them 3 times!

Its either down to the bank or the postie!

Hubby works long shifts and wants to try to get his xmas shopping done, today is his only chance, and the bank is only open until 1 today with it being Saturday, he was working nights last night and by the time he gets out of bed, so he is unable to take any cash from the hole in the wall and like the main of us - we don't like carrying the cash, especially this time of year!

Feel so bl**dy mad!

oh and even though postie have been, we had one bank statement belonging to us and again one letter belonging to the neighboring street!

Has he confirmed that his address and post code are correct?
Can they confirm that it was ordered or even if it has already been sent out?
What are they saying is the timescale given the Christmas post?


I should add I am awaiting receipt of a Christmas present ordered online in which one has arrived very quickly and the other is still later in spite of it being ordered at the same time from the one retailer.

He was informed on Weds 1st Dec up to 5 days to miss the busy Xmas post, and the bank requested for the reminder last Tues 7th Dec.

He had received the debit card coming up a week tomorrow, but they have insisted both the first and reminder have been sent to the address, which they have only known us to live in since we banked with them.

However, we did make contact with the other street where we have been receiving their mail, they arrived back from being away last night, and luckily we know them (both retired head of school teachers) and assured us if anything does arrive they will give a ring.
So nothing gone to them either of ours.

Hubby rang Co op yesterday morning before closing time, and they said if not arrived by tomorrow (Monday) is to contact the bank again.

Well some good news!

Both the first Pin and Reminder arrived in the post today, the first one dated 02 Dec and the reminder dated 8th Dec, but I have a feeling maybe the first one was held back in the post, cos with the recent reminder one only being the 8th, that is only 5 days waiting including the weekend. :santa2:
