Depends whether we are entitled to compo or not but I'd of thought so.
The LSC will take there cut also to pay for services, they are in a win win situation really.

The panel noted the applicants argument that the mortgage indemnity fee (classed as a charge and contained within the credit agreement) had been misclassified and was in fact part of the credit.

The panel considers that if that argument were to succeed, it would render like agreements unenforceable. Not only would it benefit other individuals who are affected, but more importantly to potential borrowers that would enable them to understand the true cost of the credit being offered.
The panel is therefore satisfied that this case has a significant wider public interest.

So thats the responce from the advisory panel, it will now be returned to the LSC for a decision on whether funding will be granted.
Plus!!!! going on the reply from the Public Advisory Panel, If all possible cases where brought together and evryone paid a contribution towards costs then whats the point of the LSC?????
I dont really understand the decision from the LSC from what the PAP had concluded. Don't suppose you have an in depth knowledge of the LSC system do you jan????

Okayyyyy....... Just had confirmation from Stephensons Solicitors regarding the LSC decision to grant legal aid mmmmmmmmmm

Even though I mentioned previously having to contribute £56.11 per month for the duration of the case, what I didn't realise ( which it didn't state in the LSC letter) was that it's £56.11 'EACH' per month, total of £112.22 per month for a possible 3 years.......I don't think so.

Although we may get cost's and possibly contributions recovered if we win but in the mean time errrrrrrrr NO.

Saying that...... the above figures do not take into account my current situation at home or JSA so fingers crossed it will be reduced significantly.

Ooooo one other point..... it mentions right at the very end in small ish letters that the contributions that are payable for our legal aid have been reduced by 50%. :washer:

As you may or may not know, we have not been paying this account since the solicitors took hold.
Recieved a letter today from welcome finance saying the debt has now increased to £15k and you are in arrears and is lodged with the CRA.

              Our offer:

If you pay us 65% of what you owe, only £9740 within 21 days, then the debt will be paid in full. Call now to take advantage of this excellent offer.

FFS what is this, the January sales.

for one, about £4k of that is made up of interest and charges since the account was in dispute, secondly......well... solicitors are on that one. :madelf:
