  • Happy Christmas to you too Natwest

My own stupid fault I suppose, but I really did think that I was being paid today. Nope - not until tomorrow unfortunately. A couple of payments have gone through my bank which has left me overdrawn, so I phoned to explain and that I would be paid tomorrow so could they possibly honour the direct debits. Nope - they won't, and they are charging me £40 ffs.

Just thought I'd let you all know.

    HAPPY CHRISTMAS NATWEST - NOT!

Did you ask them to temporarily increase your overdraft to cover them since you have funds coming in tomorrow to cover that money going out temporarily?

No, because the last time I did that they ran a credit check on me and said "No". I don't want another credit search on my file.

Pity because that is the argument I would have if I sued them in court, ie not that the payments were considered and declined but that you were offered no alternative whatsoever in spite of the fact that funds were expected less than 48 hours later.

Don't be unreasonable Mrs S, they've got to find some way to pay for their multimillion pound advertising campain about NatWest Helpful Banking, not to mention their fantastic Customer Charter.
