  • Claiming charges back from HSBC

Hi I wonder if you can help.

After my husband was made redundant last year we went into severe financial difficulty, we are now clawing ourselves back, however looking back at the accounts we had a massive amount of charges put onto our account by HSBC even though we explained the situation to them at the time.

I am now looking to make a claim to get the charges refunded. I would like to get this right before I make a start so could you give me some guidance on where to begin. I am aware that you can view 6 years worth of statements online with HSBC and I have two accounts.

I bit of help as to where to begin would be great!

    Thanks

    Hayley

    Welcome to Beagles harryjake1.
HERE is the info you need to start your claim for OD charges, if you indeed have your statements to hand then the first job would be to add them all up and put them on a spread sheet.
So have a read of the info and if you need to ask then please just do.

thank you very much, that has given me all the info I need! One more question I have is that my husband was with Natwest Bank, because he was made redundant they closed his account and put it on a managed payment system. Before they done this they put hundreds of pounds of charges on the account causing it to go in access of £2000 overdrawn! Is he able to claim the charges back on this account?

      Thanks

          Hi Hayley,

You will be able to claim back the charges from both of these accounts and even though all claims are currently on hold as we are in the middle of a test case which will eventually decide the legality of these charges there is a possibility that if you are undergoing financial hardship you may be able to secure an interim payout from each of these banks that would help you through your current difficulties.

Please have a read of the threads linked to by enaid and sapphire as I am sure that these will be very helpful to you. If you believe that you may qualify under the financial hardship criteria we would be happy to assist you in preparing your claim.

Regards and welcome to Legal Beagles.
