  • Bank ID for 11 year old

Hi I'm wanting to open a debit card account for my 11 year old grandaughter.
I've been with Barclays for nearly 50 years and can do a video application with the bank and her with me.
The ID they ask for is something like a Passport (she hasn't got one) or a Birth Certificate (her mother isn't sure where it is). Is there any other ID that is acceptable?
    Thankyou in advance.

You need to ask Barclays. Only they can say what is acceptable to them. The law doesn't say how banks have to approve ID. Each bank decides its own procedures.

If the Birth Certificate is really lost (as opposed to "her mother isn't sure where it is") you can obtain a copy form the GRO (General Register Office).
All opinions expressed are based on my personal experience. I am not a lawyer and do not hold any legal qualifications.
