My wife has just received a cheque for £25 from HSBC they say for the quality of service from them not being up to standard she has never hadan account from them in her sole name just one joint with me .
Any thoughts on this she is thinking its a scam

Hi Wales
It isn't that unusual now a days.
Companies regularly review their own performance and if they find they have not provided what they themselves consider adequate service they will make ex gratia refunds of charges. (they need to act before the regulators pick up on it!

If it is to do with your joint account ask them where your £25 has gone. Sauce for the goose and all that...

Thanks DES dont know how they got this address last time we had dealings with them was 11plus years ago and we lived in wales have had4 addresses since then

Lucky you. it's normally only debt collectors who seek out changed addresses

HSBC used to be Midland Bank...changed name 1999.... mean anything?

Bank it, and if they ask for its return plead change of position
