But the key point is that the whatever I do in the charges worksheet should be reflected in the interest worksheet so that it caluculates correctly. Thanks for your help guys!!

            ok i have sorted it
On the 8% sheet, highlight the cells b101,C101,D101 ALONG TO H101
than postion your cursor over the bottom right corner of cell h101, it will change to small cross.
then left click and hold the mouse button down, drag the boxes down to row 210 then let go of the mouse button
that should work now, and all you charges should appear

I think that because I had to add rows it somehow the interest worksheet stop reading it at a certain point (when it got to the end of the preset table). Hope I'm making sense - my knowledge of excel is minimal.

                  Diamond

I've just replaced the spreadsheet with one that will work for you, just copy and paste your charges into the first sheet og the new one.

If it doesn't work, shoot me!

Hi Everyone - thanks for your help and advice. Hope you all had a good weekend! I received a letter from Abbey over the weekend which said.....

Having carried out a full investigation, we believe these charges do not contravene those regulations and therefore I cannot agree to refund them. The regulations say that we must explain our charges in plain language and that we have to act in good faith, according to the Office of Fair Trading, means dealing fairly and openly with customers. I therefore reviewed the literature and information you received when you opened your account, including the terms and conditions. This explains that charges will be applied if you do not keep to the terms of the account. Because of this, I believe we have been fair and open in telling you about them. The charges were correct, because you did not have enough money in your account to cover payments requested from it. When I looked at the history for your account I found that, unfortunately, this was not the first time this has happened. I can see we have refunded charges, in the past, as a gesture of goodwill (they refunded £950 a couple of months ago which I wrote back and said that I would accept as part payment but would still pursue the balance of my claim and smaller amounts scattered over the last 2 years when I called to complain about the charges on my account - amounted to £100). I am sorry that, because of this, I cannot agree to cancel these charges. I am confident that I have been fair and have taken into account all the points you made in your letter, but if you have any additional points that you would like to discuss with me, please call me etc....etc....etc......

                            What do you think?

I think they're full of... Rubbish . Would be interesting to know which regulations they're refering to. They're not allowed by law to make profit from penalty charges (someone else can tell the exact law) so the regulations which they're refering to don't apply IMO.

Send them an LBA, give them 14 days to respond positively, or take them to court.

I've sent them an LBA nearly 2 months ago and delayed court action to give them time to investigate (as they requested) and this is the result!! Now I've got no other choice but to take them to court!
