  • Statutory Demand Help please

Thanks for this-my son is being pressurised by Unicom for an old telephone line he had when he was in business-(he is not now) Firstly, my son lives in Spain and not in the jurasdiction of a UK court-secondly, he has already disputed part of this old bill (goes back to 2009) but as he has no income (He lives with parents) has offered to pay £5 a week- which is the maximum he can afford as he has no income-Unicom is not happy with this and say that unless £75 a month is paid then they will revert the account to some extortionate debt collector-who will basically add interest on (doubling the debt) and issue a statutory demand. I would really appreciate your advice on how to proceed with this-The total outstanding is £1185.00 Thank you.

Re: Statutory Demands - READ HERE

How are they contacting/communicating him if he lives in Spain?

Can you please advise the amount of the debt you say he is disputing?

If this was a business line, which you say the business no longer exists, did your son have personal guarantees for the phones then, if the company does not exist anymore how comes they are chasing your son?

What happened to the business, is it still trading or did it go into administration....

If he is personally liable for this debt he needs to get this debt down to just below £750 this will stop a stat demand and bankruptcy.
