What the local authority will receive back from the court is a computer print out with a court stamp and signature confirming that the court have granted permission for the debt to be enforced using various different methods (attachment of earnings, attachment against benefits, bailiffs taking control of goods, charging order etc).

You need to ask the council for the exact amount of the Liability Order passed to bailiffs last year. This is important information so that you can establish whether the bailiffs fees being charged are correct.

You still need to find out from the council WHY a Liability Order was issued if your account was supposedly showing a nil balance.

You will not receive a copy of an actual Liability Order as these are no longer issued. Instead, the 'order' itself is recorded in the court records and copied to the local authority.

the Council have said though in their letter to me that a copy of the Liability order is now with the Bailiffs, does that make sense ?

              Re: council tax

You need to ask the council for a copy of the summons and confirmation that the court granted an order. You need to ask for details of the amount .

Even if they do knock, you don't have to let them in. Anything of value outside (ie a car) is at risk if it's not exempt (ie on HP, blue badge).
