  • Rosendales ...urgent!

I have an outstanding debt for non domestic rates of £2221.49 which the council have passed on to rossendales (they didn't give me the option to make any payment arrangements with them). I had to send in details of my expenditure , wage slips etc . and make them an offer which I did based on what I can afford to pay .I made the offer of £30 per mth which was refused and they are now demanding £383 per mth!! This is due today having given me less than a weeks notice. Help !!!!!!

You should have received a Notice of Enforcement from Rossendales and a Compliance fee of £75 would have been added.

The problem that you have is that an offer of £30 per month would take 5 years to repay a debt of £2221.49. Local authorities tend to insist in their contracts with their relevant bailiff enforcer that payment arrangements should be accepted that repay the debt in a maximum of 6 months....and five years would be unheard of.

Can you please post back with some background information such as:

The debt is NNDR, is the business still trading?

Is the business a limited company, sole trader etc?

Does the business have any stock/assets that the bailiff can seize?

What fees have been added to the account since it was passed to Rossendales by the council?
