  • Collectica - Tv License Debt - warrant of removal - due visit 6pm

    Hello

I wonder if anyone could help or offer some advice.

I have a outstanding debt for Tv License since last year, my dad was terminally ill with cancer and i left my job for a couple months to care for him. in this time i didn't sign on for any benefit as my dad was priority, this leading me into major financial difficulty, of which im still dealing with now. So to cancelled my tv license direct debit to save money to live on as i didn't have an income.

After my dad passed away last May i returned to work in June, i was behind on rent.. council tax... everything.. they stopped my working tax credits and it took them till December to back pay my benefit since returning again leaving me financial stuck..

Now im faced with collectica, they gave me an 'official notice' 20th Jan and again yesterday with a hand written note on the front of my letter saying ' magistrates court warrant removal 6-9pm Friday' meaning today!!

Surely this isnt true.. or they could provide something more formal? right??

Anyhow i called collectica last night after seeing the letter after i got home from work to confirm what the debt was as there is no ref on the letters and also confirming who issued the debt. The man said in a very sarcastic voice ' i have some bad news for you. we have been issued a warrant of removal from Hull magistrates court' i didn't enter conversation with him and left it at that.

what do i do? any ideas? iv never arranged a repayment with the courts or the debtor .. can i do this now? this whole year has been so stressful.. im a single parent and i just found out this week im pregnant (6weeks)

Re: Collectica - Tv License Debt

So.. iv just this moment gotten off the phone with hull Magistrates courts.. i spoke to someone in the fines and warrants department who advised me i need to speak to collectica to arrange repayments. She said as it is with collectica there is nothing she can do. I mentions i was told to call her and ask to be means tested and she said to call collectica and ask for that. so i feel like iv been fobbed off.. when iv attempted to sort this mess out.
I asked her if they can force entry and she advised me if they haven't already been into my house they cannot force entry and she again enthusiast the fact i need to speak to them.

So... this leaves me no better off really... !

You mention above that you were told to call the court and ask to be 'means tested'. Who advised you to do this?

You should have received a Further Steps Notice from the court about three weeks before sending the case to Collectica. Following that notice you should have received a Notice of Enforcement from Collectica Did you receive this notice?

Hi.... OK large amount of detail missing here.... I take it a TV License Rep turned up at some point and found you had a TV in the house BUT NO license? You don't have to have a license the point being that you can't watch TV at an unlicensed address.
So I take it you would have received a court summons at some point? Could you fill in those details thank you. Please don't sound apologetic nobody is here to judge you we simply want to help.... :tongue2:

Re: Collectica - Tv License Debt - warrant of removal - due visit 6pm

a long time ago a tv license rep did turn up and i signed the document and i planned on reactivating my bill when i got my job back on track and had money coming in to pay for it. as i previously said i then had difficulty due to my working tax credits being on hold.. so i didn't get it reactivated.. i heard nothing from anyone in regards to this for months.. the now i have collectica knocking.

The bill was 650 tv license. i haven't had anything from them except to hand delivered notices.

to update u also.. i called the bailiff but he didnt answer.. he decided to text me instead asking me to pay .. i told him i was called as i was advised to contact him to arrange a repayment by the fines and warrant office this morning. he text me back saying 'no sorry no arrangements removal today sorry'. So i have been in a panic all day long worried and scared to come home after work in fear of what 'might' happen as no one seems to know exactly what 'will' happen.

I had family come round to keep me company and what a surprise no one turned up.. no locksmith.. no bailiffs !

What we need to know is the progress that happened originally.

Were you aware of the original Court Summons?
Did you get a Further Steps Notice advising you to bring your account up to date?
Did you receieve the Notice of Enforcement from Collectica?

If you can answer the above and what happened at each stage would be a good idea initially.
