Hi,
I received a letter from B&S today, regarding some unpaid council tax (i didn't realise that there was an outstanding balance from 3yrs ago as ex partner said it had been paid, and i have had to move twice since then).
Fair enough, if I owe it, I will endeavour to make arrangements to pay it off. However, this is the first letter I have received at my present address in connection with this debt. I have not had any visits from any bailiffs either (I am here most of the day so would know if anyone has attanded the property).
I noted on the bottom of the BS letter they state:
"NOTE- Yours goods other than those that are exempt are now bound in accordance with the law and you cannot sell or dispose of them until the balance is paid in full".
They have NEVER been into my house (or even attended for that matter), so how do they know what goods I have and therefore, how would they know if i sold or disposed of the goods?
Has a new law been passed that they are now applying? Or is this just bully boy tactics that they are attempting to use to either get me to pay up asap or not to remove any goods so they can swoop on them if i chose not to pay?
Thanks, in advance.
