    The clip by the way illustrated the fact that the supreme court could have issued a declaration and where only prevented from doing so because it was not point of law, in other words the supreme court could have made one if it was. This would be the situation in the bailiff scenario, if a declaration had been made it could have been put to government and any legislation possibly amended, a somewhat different scenario to a judge "slapping a certificate"

    Sadly as it was the issue was seen to be a moral one and only parliament could alter the legislation.

        This is a quote from the clip they seem to say the opposite

        Had the court made such a declaration, it would have forced the government to introduce legislation to amend the law on
        assisted suicide.
