    Equitas have clamped my car!

My husband left for work this morning to find a notice of seizure posted through the. Letter box for a PNC. Upon leaving the house he noticed that me car had been clamped. The letter claims that my car will be removed unless I pay £340 within 24 hours. The car is on HP. I haven't got this money. I called Equitas on Wednesday to pay the original debt £90. But they refused to deal with me and gave me thebaliffs number. I called him and told him that I wanted to pay and he told me he would call me back. He never did. I don't want to call him yet until I know where I stand. Please help

To put a case together there would have to some proof the clamp was removed?

It would be but foi the risk the bailiff would call bluebottles ex colleagues to feel OP's collar as the bailiff would assume OP did it, or better still a passing scrap metal collector cut it off and weighed it in.

The OP never gave any idea as to her ID or the bailiffs name, so out of, hundreds off people where bailiffs were enforcing PNC's that morning for Equita, they traced her within 2 1/2 hours of her starting this thread.

I think the OP must have mentioned to the bailiff the car was on HP and despite what he told her, he decided to remove the clamp knowing he couldn't take the car.
It is also likely that the bailif did an HPI check, as soon as this returns with a notice that the car is on HP the clamp should be removed as quickly as practical.

Initial post made at 1500hrs - post at 1730hrs re removal adds up to 2.5 hrs according to my maths. Plenty of time for the office to read and advise their Bailiff. As for recognising who it is - easy taking into account day this was done and amount they are claiming. I'll take my deerstalker off now.

I don't know, within 30mins of the thread being started, they wouldn't know who the OP is from the Thread. The bailiff was likely busy clamping somebody else's car. So to have read the thread, work out who the OP is and get to the OP's Home and remove the car and leave unnoticed, all within 30mins.... sounds suspect to me.

Thats a bit strange, within 30mins of you posting, the bailiff has been round and removed the clamp, after your husband phoned the bailiff.

Sorry for being skeptical, but something doesn't add up here, that's way to quick and not likely.

Wow something amazing has happened. My husband phoned the bailiff and stated that I had telephoned on Wednesday to pay the bill and the bailiff stated that he had removed the clamp and that I should phone Equitas and just pay the original amount. Sure enough the clamp had been removed :tinysmile_hmm_t2:
