Do not give them any info or admit to owing anything, they record calls as you should. It is highly likely that bluebottle has nailed it with the scattergun scenario

There is another way and that is to ignore it for now and see if you get any more at a later date. It is for them to prove you owe it.

Yes good move PT, these DCA wallahs are as duplicitous and crazy as that other bunch involved in another dodgy moneymaking scram that is barely if at all legal Civil Recovery, RLP.

In order to report a debt collection agency to OFT Credit Fitness Team, you will need to send an email to enquiries@oft.gov.uk. In the subject box of your email browser, put the words "Credit Fitness".

At the head of the email put -.

          Name of Debt Collection Agency
          OFT Licence Number

Explain what has happened as concisely as possible in the body of the email. Provide a contact telephone number if possible. Forward a copy to your local Trading Standards Department. They carry out investigations on behalf of the OFT.

          Best of luck.

If it begins 'Dear Sir/Madam', then it's probably a pishing expedition. If you really want to, you could ring them to see what's on the other end, but do not disclose any personal information whatsoever, no matter how trivial.

And do 141, before you dial, too.
