    Is that so? Medway Council know very well they cannot lawfully refuse to accept any payment. Saying they cannot accept payments because the matter is with the bailiffs is disingenuous in the least. Take Cloggy's advice and pay via the Council's Automated Payment System. Ignoring vulnerability is grounds for the LGO to beat both Medway Council and Chandlers with a bloody big stick. If Medway Council refuse to do anything, speak to your ward councillor and MP.

      Write to the CEO with a Formal Complaint that their minions are refusing a lawfully tendered payment itself an offence in law. There is no law that says you must pay, spit on, talk to or tolchock the bailiff Copy it to the elected leader and your MP.

      Mind you in an R v Tucker 2012 scenario, a tolchock is too mild

        Reptile and Rotten could not put together a plausible story and Sussex Police were such muppets, along with CPS, it is little wonder HHJ Brown gave them such a hard time.

              Why?

              The debt is Council Tax, not a County Court Judgement.

                Which court did you contact? Council Tax Liability Orders are dealt with by magistrates courts.

                      So who can I go too

                      I have just emailed Chandlers informing them of myself and my sons disabled status and the fact that my car is needed as i am self employed and as i live in a rural location is the only way for me to carry out my job

                        Have you also advised the Council? You should also contact your local Councillor(s) and ask they intervene.

                            Is the car insured for business use? Have you proof you can provide to show your disabled status?

                              Sammi,

                              I feel the best thing you can do is -

                              1. Contact your ward councillor and get them involved;
                              2. Contact your MP and get them involved; and
                              3. Ring 020 7092 3940, which is the telephone number for the National Pro Bono Centre, a link for which is in Cloggy's posts.

                              Your ward councillor can kick the backsides of council officers and ask them just what the hell is going on. The MP can do similar, but is in a position to ask Eric "Pie Eater" Pickles to go along and sit on them. The National Pro Bono Centre is a clearing house for the pro bono legal charities who provide free legal advice and representation to those who cannot afford legal costs or are not eligible for Legal Aid. It is my understanding that you need to be referred to the pro bono legal charities and the National Pro Bono Centre should be able to advise you as to this.

                              I would action the above today.
