Hi I had 3 parking fines, which I forgot about so they were unpaid, then a baliff turned up and said
I owe 500, I said can I pay it weekly and he said no, I was so frustrated he made me cry.
He was rude and asked questions like, you have 2 small children where are you getting your money etc.
When I said I wanted to pay instalments he said he would be back again tomorrow at six in the morning.
When I came home from the school run today the amount had gone up by a letter put in my door by 400 so now it is just under a thousand pounds, can they do this and is there any way I can have the charges taken off ?

That makes it more difficult as the thinking is that you ignored the original tickets and the letters that followed each, therefore you are likelyto either default or not pay any arrangement that is set up.

The other awkward thing is that the Warrant the Bailiff has lists the Reg No of the car - so if that is spotted it could be seized or removed. To get out of this you need to hide the car, preferably in a locked garage.

In the meantime you need to send off for a breakdown of the fees he is charging, use letter 1 from http://www.legalbeagles.info/forums/...Useful-Letters

Providing he has not already made a levy on your car you are free to with it what you will. As long as any date of sale pre-dates his levy then that is OK. There is nothing to stop you selling it to a friend and then "renting" it back from them - but beware any car insurance must also be able to back this up.

As for charging you for posting letters only a breakdown of fees will tell you.

By the way, the oaf is almost certainly overcharging.

Which council issued the tickets? Once I know that, I should be able to get the email address for that council's Chief Executive.
