    I've just reciived a liability order dating back to October 2013 for non payment of council tax 560 pound!!!! It's from Phoenix bailiffs saying for me to contact them to arrange a day for them to come and remove my goods! I've not made contact I'm a single mum with no goods at all a cheap telco own made TV and stand and to sofas with rips in I do work just part time commissioned based not great!! When do I do when bailiffs arrive to I allow them in ans show them I've got no goods to the value or just hide everytime they knock

    There is no law that says you have to speak to or deal with a Bailiff. Despite anything they say you do not have to let them in - that's a seriously bad idea - as it all it does is inflate further what you owe regardless of what you own or don't own.

    However Council Tax must be paid and if you make no payments it will look as if you are wilfully refusing to pay which could result in a jail term. Best bet if possible is pay the Council direct via online banking or Council website.
