  • JBW Group - At it again it would seem

    Hi guys,

My first time joining up but have been reading over some of the other threads and it seems they do like to just make s**t up as they go.

    Anyways on to my predicament.

I sold a Honda Civic back in April 2013, for which I had misplaced the logbook. May 2013, I received 2 PCNs through the door. I quickly got these round to the current owners and he assured me he would sort it. Okay I thought, I'll leave it at that. Both totaled no more than £140.

I must admit I'm not the best with post. They usually just all get piled up without being opened.

Today I get a knock at my door from a JBW Bailiff. (This is a first bailiff visit)
He explains what's going on and hands me a piece of paper.

"Enforcement Notice" with various printed wordings about how they can take your property etc etc. Its then when I notice the balance... £519.68

    What can I do?!

Ask him if he is in the running for the British Comedy Awards or Booker Prize for Fiction.

Seriously, ask JBW for a breakdown of the fees they are charging as they have form for inflating fees and charging fees not in accordance with legislation. Which local authority is involved, please?

Did you inform DVLA regardless of you misplacing the V5?

DVLA has since issued a new V5 but I did not inform them right away so I accept I am liable for these PCNs but not at that amount of money lol.

By local authority do you mean which council gave the tickets? If so Fareham Borough.

Did you give them a receipt for the monies paid? Do you know when the "new" owner registered the vehicle?

A receipt can be arranged if needs be. Not sure when the new owner registered it though.

CleverClogs... What am I to do with said information?..

You could use his email address to send him a Valentine's Day message.

Or you could use it to ask if he is entirely happy about JBW double-charging on a visit merely because they've been given two PCNs to enforce - the two sets of "Attendance To Levy" in the breakdown - as well as charging for "Attendance To Remove" on the first visit.

Is there possibly a template I could follow for this email?

The Closing Fees are "not in accordance with legislation" and so must be removed.

                        Quite.

One must wonder what had been closed and whose fault it was for having opened it in the first place.

I gave them a call to try and get a little sense and the lady told me they can't discuss fees over the phone (She also told me another bailiff has been allocated -.-)

So I've sent them a lovely email instead
