Unfortunately the Registered office is in Norfolk and the old business premises is in the Blackburn district.

I will write a formal complaint as stated earlier. The debt is not the problem it's the treatment we are receiving that's a cause for complaint. It's totally unnecessary and I feel as though I'm surrounded by a group of bullies.

It appears that Blackburn Council has hived off most of its back office functions to Capita. They in turn own 2 Bailiff Co's one of which just so happens to be Equita. If you communicate with the Council by phone the chances are you are speaking to a Capita employee and not one from the Council, they are known for being uncooperative which may explain the reception you are getting. Always ask to speak to someone in authority and be insistent if you have to.

Update, a compromise and payment has been agreed between the council and my company. Equita continues to be obstructive and I've found a way round not paying through them. I went down the procedure of writing to the council and had a full detailed letter back. At the same time, I wrote to my MP who in turn wrote to Equita. The reply received was just as threatening in the last statement to my MP in pursuing levy action.
Now a question for Levy fees,. Am I correct that if no visit has been made to my Reg Office, and no distraint has been carried out or attempted to be carried out that there are no charges to pay. Equita have added £98 as a levy fee.

                  Yes.

Fancy that - they've added fees to which they are not lawfully entitled.

Did you get that from a breakdown of their fees?

Have you told your MP about this?

It is blatant FEE FRAUD. Shame the local police farce is unlikely to feel collars for it, I suspect if they did HMP Altcourse and Strangeways hotel would be full of Capita employees and Equita bailiffs, on remand or sentenced for fraud offences.
