So as I understand it if the bailiff charges £75 for first visit with a minimum value as set down in he regulations then . so watch all the councils hike up charges and costs to ensure that all overdue council tax has a value of over £1500. the fee of £235 becomes payable if they acually have to amke asecond recovery visit .

There may also be VAT to pay on top, still waiting details from HMRC for this.

It may well end up at over £400 at the first knock with the LO fee, and the bailiff charges and possible VAT. How this is affordable to say someone on low income or zero hour contract who had some Council Tax Benefit until the changes, or someone on JSA who now has to pay 20% or 30% of the bill from JSA is beyond me. They couldn't afford to pay the council tax and eat after the egregious utility bills and rent/mortgage.

Perhaps MOJ expects people to live on bread and dripping or go foraging through the bins, or go to the foodbank?

The explanatory note says the following

Where the enforcement agent and the debtor enter into a controlled goods agreement (defined in accordance with paragraph 13(4) of Schedule 12 to the Act) which the debtor complies with, only the first enforcement stage fee is payable. However, if the debtor does not enter into such an agreement, or doeather than s so but breaches the agreement, both the first and second enforcement stage fees are applicable.

So it looks like it will be cheaper to allow the siezure and pay rathere keeping the beggers out .However what it seems to me is that the process is very similar but the costs have been updated to allow forthe inflation since 1992

It does therefore seem to add clarity, but as in other cost increases, it takes no account of a baseline ability to pay, as loading high or excessive fees fees onto debt is no better than Wonga. Debt recovery and the associated charges are legalised usury,

I would be inclined to regard this as a declaration of war on the hard-working people of England and Wales.

Cameron should be put on trial for High Treason.

We will see a 2 tier system which will be hard to follow and I envisage some Companies dragging their heels in order to use the system that best benefits them, I think then the first question to ask is what date is on the Warrant or Order.

Or, indeed, if the company's Michael Mouse warrant even has a date.

It is my understanding there is a big pow-wow following the CIVEA bash in London in the very near future, as Milo has alluded on another thread. It would appear all interested parties will be in attendance, as well as the MoJ whom I have no doubt will be asked some very searching questions as to how they managed to come up with legislation that is a complete feck up. Taking into account that the corruption and fraud relating to Council Tax collection and Liability Order hearings is becoming common knowledge, plus issues of compatibility with the European Convention on Human Rights (ECHR), enforced through the Human Rights Act 1998, I have a feeling the government may be forced to delay the coming into force of the provisions, or amend or repeal some of the provisions or scrap it altogether and go back to the drawing board.

Have you been watching UK Column Live, Cloggy?

Seriously though, I agree 100% with what you say and especially your statement that Cameron should be put on trial for High Treason.
