Being fined for uninsured car when I had sold it?

hello there,

I have been sent a letter to say I am being fined for having an uninsured vehicle in on Nov the 28th even though I had already sold my car in may. I have lost the paper to say that I had sold it by then. is there anything else I can do? they said they are going to get bailiffs round if I do not pay the £400 pound fine

Is this from the court or DVLA?

Did you get a summons, did you know about the fine previously??

You could swear a Statutory Declaration and submit it to the court stating that the vehicle was sold May, and the V5 posted on XX May by post, and that under the Interpretations Act it can be assumed that DVLA received it three days later.

There is no legal duty to contact DVLA to see if it has arrived.

DVLA are good at losing post, so contacting BBC Watchdog who have a big downer on DVLA is a good thing toi do also
