That letter is a torpedo into the SS Council, they have let the muppets from Newlyn run around as a loose cannon, and will be paying the price soon. Wonder if bailiff fricasse would be ok, or judging by the porcine appearance of some of them, a hog roast, or long pig as per that gung ho frowned on book Coral Island, where a British lad can overcome pirates, cannibals, and still have time to build a shelter when castaway, and shipwrecked.

And this follows on shortly after the debacle about Bankruptcy at Coventry Council, strange that also was Newlyn.

Perhaps they are subconsciously trying to emulate the late unlamented Drakes and be wound up, hopefully with no handy white knight to phoenix them. Probably just that they feel so secure with their cosy agreements, compliant and complacent councils, that they feel untouchable.

Or that they've paid "commission" on their profits to the councils who employ them?

hello, thankyou very much for your advice , dont want to get into the trap of borrowin money then being further in debt as slowly but surely debts r being decreased now im back in work and hopefully for te longterm, im also doubtin the amount the bailiffs are asking, last time they were saying owe £4000 now its down to £3500 inclusdin this years upfront and last year, wasnt workin last yr so that doesn't apply, realistically in total owe abt £1500

we'll theyve had a shock with my case, as there harassment hasn't affected me as ive totally ignored them, hence why think they've now started with the commital to jail threats as they know for a fact wont ever be able to cease my car because don't own one and never gonna gain access to my flat, no doubt they've scared alot ov people out there and its just unfortunate that alot of people given into them

They're going to get a bigger shock in your case once we get onto things.

If it were going to happen (it isn't!) - this is the procedure laid down well:

                http://www.northwarks.gov.uk/info/20..._tax_arrears/5

As you can see, it is willful non payment. This simply does not apply to you.

If they did try for committal, as you are paying the magistrates in a fit of pique for the council and Screwlyn wasting their time may do what is at 3 and 5 in the document linked by Labman

3 Remit all/part of the debt, depending on circumstances
                  • If the Magistrates cannot find wilful refusal or culpable neglect, they can order the Council to remit (write off) all or part of the debt.

                  5 Dismiss
                  • The Magistrates have the power to dismiss a case with or without finding wilful refusal or culpable neglect. If this is the case the Council may renew the application at a future date if the circumstances of the debtor change. (This is not the case of any monies remitted by the court)

They are likely to be the losers if they are crazy enough to waste public money on prosecuting you. Tax Payers Alliance would love that one (NOT)
