  • Bailiffs - certified or not?

Can anyone tell me how to check the authenticity of a bailiff when they are not showing on the Bailiff register?

But that would only tell one if the bailiff held a current certificate, not whether they'd been certified. :der:

If you have a Bailiff who is claiming to be currently Certificated but he does not appear on the Bailiff Register there are other steps to take. The Register is now administered through Northampton County Court Bulk Centre on 0845 4085302 between 10.00am and 4 pm or via email on a 5 day turn around. As the Register is not always up to date then even they may not know.

If the Bailiff or his company have divulged the Court the Certificate was granted at then contact that Court and ensure that you specifically ask that the Certificate was in use on the particular date that you are checking on.

          Thank you Ploddertom!

I have the names of 2 bailiffs who visited me, both are supposed to have been certified in Liverpool County Court, neither showing on the register!

Ok, really helpful court advisor! Have found out that one of the so called bailiffs was not certified at the court at the time he visited us - in fact the certificate was not issued until AFTER my complaint was made. The second Bailiff is not even registered!

Be intersting to see which fairy story they use to get out of this then. Are you saying that Bailiff No 1 was Cerificated but at another Court and he then renewed his Certifcated afterwards. If so who was his employer at the time of the visit according to his previous Certificate.

Ouch! could be painful for bailiff and company.

No Bailiff number 1 WAS NOT a certified bailiff before 25/04/13. Marstons visited the coourt on 07/01/13 to register him as a self employed bailiff, but he was not certified until April! He apparently visited me on 26 Jan to enorce a fine that was paid on 16th January. Bailiff 2 clamped my car on 3rd April to collect "fees" for Bailiff 1 (although Marstons seem confused about this) He was not certified! Well not in the court/date that Marstons say he was, and not on the Bailiff register!

Judging by the way Marstons are complaining they will try to gloss over it and close down any debate into their naughtiness.

I don't know whether this still applies but originally the MOJ permitted the Bailiff Co's to employ those without a Certificate for 6 months - just for visiting I think - but my understnding was that to take a levy etc then whoever did so still had to be properly Certificated. Be worth investigating.

Bluebotlle was dealing with our case as there are a number of falsehoods in some communication received by me from Mr Gareth Hughes and Marstons themselves: http://www.legalbeagles.info/forums/...e-already-paid!!

However he is unable to keep helping now, I may have to seek legal advice. I will be sending a letter containing my findings of their corrupt and illegal harrassment to my MP and to the media!
