    I know.

Nor may they add in the date but, without either or both, one must wonder how anyone could get a "levy fee" of £53.38.

Perhaps OP should complain to the VAT man that crapquita have ripped him for illegal VAT, and likely pocketed it.

Definitely HMRC VAT Section. I believe there is a dedicated telephone number on the HMRC website to report VAT fraud. Definitely inform HMRC Equita are being investigated by Northamptonshire Trading Standards. With a bit of luck, HMRC should eat Equita and Capita alive.

Alas, the bugger didn't charge VAT - I suggested that, along with having added in the date, as an explanation of how anyone might suppose the "correct" fee was £53.38 rather than the £33 that was (improperly) charged.

Bugger! Foiled again! I would have paid good money to see the management of Equita get a bloody good hiding in court.

There's always a chance that someone will challenge them in court to explain how a Berlingo van might be used to transport several motor-cars. A demonstration of the method would be even more fun.

What a sight it would be if they tried to pull a truck away with a berlingo

I doubt that a letter of complaint to Equita would be of any use, as they'll most likely reply with their standard stercus bovi about all the fees being legally correct.

The complaint should be sent to the Head of Revenues at the Council - if there is one - who may also reply with similar nonsense; it would then need to be escalated to the Council CEO.

Also copy it to the elected leader and your MP, to show what their contractors are doing in THEIR name.
