  • Letter from Rossendales re United Utilities debt

Hi, I had a letter just over a week ago from Rossendales about collecting a United Utilities debt of £460.20. I had just contacted United Utilities via email the night before the letter arrived from Rossendales, in my email I offered a £5 per week payment plan. I rang United Utilities the next day I got the letter and said about the email and the payment offer and they say they are happy to accept that and also they have sent me a grant form out which they say will clear most if not actually all of my debt with them because I am only on bennefits and am stughling with debt. They say the grant shod clear in about 5 weeks time. they day they can't take the debt back but if I have any problems off Rossendales to ring them.
I havnt neen able to ring the Rossendales number as its too expensive and i had no money for a phone call or credit on my phone to send an email until yestetday. So ladt night I sent Rossendales an email telling them I had spoke to United Utilities and they were happy to accept my £5 per week offer along with getting me a grant to clear the debt. I havnt had a reply yet. What I want to know from you is, can they accept what I have organised with United Utilities or will they still press for the money as I didn't contact them in 7 days either.
Also I heard there is a form I can get to take to court that is basically a sworn document thst can be signed at court for £5 that proves someone owns all rhe household goods in a property. I eould like to know where to get this form as I am livin with my partner in her rented acvomodation with her son too and all tje property in the house is hers and she doesn't want to loose it obviously. Csn you tell me whete and how to get the form and the name of it and would it help. Also could you advise on the above about Rosdrndales and United Utilities. Thankyou, Jane.

Do not let the bailiff in, they have no right of entry, nor can they force entry no matter what the Pinnochio at the door tells you, you can see their nose get longer as they speak due to all the lies they spout about locksmiths breaking in taking the kids into slavery, clearing the house etc etc.. if you have a car hide it. Is the debt for a previous address? If you have not long moved in with a partner, they could swear a Statutory Declaration at t a solicitors, or magistrates court stating they own all the goods and chattels in the premises, and present dossendales with it if and when they call. I would ring UU again if you have any grief from dossers. looks like they have a CCJ, is that correct?

Is this from Rossendales Collect - they are only Debt Collectors who do not have any powers?

Also, Rossendales hold an OFT Category F Debt Collection Licence and are required to comply with OFT Debt Collection Guidelines as a condition of that licence. Asking debtors to contact them on a premium rate telephone number is a breach of the Guidelines and could impact on their licence. I would be inclined to report this to OFT Credit Fitness Team, who are responsible for supervising, monitoring and, ultimately, deciding whether or not to renew or to revoke a debt collection agency's licence. You should also consider reporting them to Trading Standards. Which telephone number did they quote and what was the rate per minute quoted, please?
