Bailiffs sent me letters with discrepancy in the amount owed from what I have with the council. The very next day after letter arrived, a saturday, she came to my house, demanded payment then clamped my car,saying she's returning on monday to remove it. I'm a single mum with a young child and can't get my child to school come monday. Can anyone advise me on what to do?
Bailiff just clamped my car over the weekend. I'm a lone parent. What can i do?

Hi Carol o, could you confirm a few details so Beagles can offer the best advice for your situation.Originally posted by Carol o View PostBailiffs sent me letters with discrepancy in the amount owed from what I have with the council. This is for Council Tax how much is owing, what council and bailiff company is this?
Monday morning ask the council:
how many Liability Orders they hold for you
What tax Years they apply to
When were they obtained
When were they passed to bailiffs for enforcement.
Are you working, and are you in receipt of any benefits either unemployment or in work like a tax credit?
have you claimed the single persons discount off your council tax as you are a single parent if not do so ASAP, and ask for it to be backdated.
You may also be potentially vulnerable under the National Standards, as a single parent:
Those who might be potentially vulnerable include:
the elderly;
people with a disability;
the seriously ill;
the recently bereaved;
single parent families;
unemployed people;
Above all don't panic beagles will do their best to help you address this.

Don't know, but hope OP comes back soon to tell usOriginally posted by CleverClogs View PostI wonder if the bl:censored:dy bailiff is our dear friend MB...
One thing is certain, clamping a car for council tax is stupid, especially if it stops someone going to work to earn money tom pay the debt, But bailiffs are as a rule too thick to realise that. In their tiny minds they think clamping a motor will make someone pay up quicker, Duh well no it won't it just makes it impossible to pay up.

I bet it's the Jerks from Jacobs. They're clamp-happy and couldn't give a monkey's about compliance with the law. Then again, Brain-Dead & Stupid are equally as bad.Life is a journey on which we all travel, sometimes together, but never alone.

Hope Carol O comes back with the info, I think Jacobs, Bristols and Stupor, and Marstons need another virtual kicking. Jacobs in particular go very shy if they see a cameraOriginally posted by bluebottle View PostI bet it's the Jerks from Jacobs.
