Certificated bailiffs are habitual liars - it is in their DNA. However, sometimes, their lies catch up with them, as happened at Hove Crown Court just before Christmas. Two certificated bailiffs are now crapping themselves as to what is going to happen next. The judge who heard the case was the most senior Circuit Judge on the Criminal Circuit for that area and he was having none of it.

The two bailiffs referred to in my last post were doing everything to get out of appearing before an appeal court. The police were unable to explain their grounds for arrest and the CPS were unable to explain their grounds for prosecution. In the end, the judge ruled the arrest and subsequent prosecution were ultra vires. The bailiffs are now pooping themselves stupid as the person who brought the appeal is going after them for ABH and Criminal Damage, as well as a whole raft of civil torts. It turns out the local council who employed them credited the person's CT to someone else's account. The council has not even bothered to ask the magistrates court to quash the LO and are in total denial, claiming the person didn't pay their CT, even though they have admitted to crediting it to the wrong account. I will let peeps know what the final outcome of this particular case is.
