  • Bailiff concerns :(

    Hey there everyone.

I suppose I could say the situation is complicated but on a subject like this when isn't it.

I live with my father and I depend on him to survive pretty much, I have signed onto JSA (Jobseekers allowance), my grandmother passed away recently and my father signed for some loans for her specifically because she couldn't get any but she paid the loans off bit by bit for him, he doesn't Start getting Carers Allowance for atleast over 8 weeks, so my JSA is our only income but that's only paid in every 2 weeks which is bad enough, because of the loans he signed for being so extortionately high it wouldn't be possible to pay them off even if I managed to get work myself.

We both know it's inevitable that Bailiffs will be sent here eventually which is why I need to some things.

How on earth does my father pay the money back when both me and him are on a low income that's barely enough to survive?

An can they take things like the modem and router for Internet as I need them myself to apply for jobs?

    What stuff can they take?

I know they can't take what belongs to other people not involved in the loans, but how am I expected to prove my 42 inch tv which was a 19th birthday gift and my sound system and my ps3 I got on my 20th last year when they know fine well there's going to be no documents for anything like that?

One is from Provident and another is from Greenwoods.

Payday loans or over a period of months, years?

To be honest i wouldn't get worried over either of those companies! Especially not worried about bailiffs, as that is to be honest very unlikely to happen, as if it did get to court and you lost, the judge would most likley order you to pay a small amount per month that is affordable to your father! So it wouldn't really be in their interests to try an enforce in court.

Who do they belong to? If you, do you have the receipts?

Work out what little youcan afford, then write to them and tell them that is what you will pay on a regular basis. Ask them to freeze any interest and charges (with a Provident loan I believe the interest is all front loaded and they won't litigate if you keep up minimal payments. I'm not sure about Greenwoods).

Pay this and you should be fine. If you're not, post up again.
