Hi all, i am having terrible trouble with BRISTOW/SUTOR. After reading posts on here I have realised my first mistake was to let bailiffs enter the house where I reside.(I only rent a room). I had a parking ticket which I had completely forgotton about, and since B/S have become involved the cost has spiralled from £105 to over £800, apparantly this is because I had agreed to a payment plan which started a week later than the agreed date!!!, they made a list of items that they said could be siezed. This list was a 2 piece suite in the shared living room, a laptop, and a fridge freezer in the shared kitchen. Yesterday a bailiff turned up whilst I was at work and gave my housemate the third degree as to where I was and when I would be back. he also gave her an envelope with my name written on it and told her to make sure I got it. When I read the letter there was a further charge of £230 as it stated he was there to remove goods. I rang him and said that there wasnt much he could take as he could see by the list made earlier, to which he replied he could take anything he wanted as getting the list in the 1st place was just a ploy. My housemate is now very annoyed and threatening to chuck me out. Any advice will be gratefuly appreciated.

Re: Bailiff issues
From what I can see, most of the items on the bailiff's levy are exempt. If he takes the two-piece suite, where are you and your housemate going to sit? Also, I don't think he can take a fridge freezer. As for the fees, they are excessive and not in accordance with relevant legislation. it also looks like he is trying to garner fees, which is a no-no. I would certainly be thinking about threatening this bully with having his fees scrutinised by a county court registrar. However, I am going to bump this thread for another of our bailiff experts to look in.
:bump:Life is a journey on which we all travel, sometimes together, but never alone.

Re: Bailiff issues
I assume you don't personally own the items which they have allegedly seized? Have you had a breakdown of the fees they are charging? As for the ticket were you living where you are now when it was issued? Have you asked to see a copy of the Warrant of Execution they hold? How old is the Warrant?

Re: Bailiff issues
Hi the only item I own on the list is the laptop. I told them the car I had was still on finance and I have arranged a voluntary termination of the agreent. I have written to B/S for a breakdown of the charges as advised by your post. I have not seen a Warrant of Excecution as yet.
