Just noticed something. You say there is an LO, but no magistrates summons. Check with the magistrates court if they have records of any summonses or LOs being issued against your mum. If they can find no records, the LO is a forgery and render Equita's levies invalid and any seizure or attempted seizure of vehicles illegal. The levies are invalid in any case and any attempted seizures would be illegal also. It also means that Equita are committing a number of potential offences under the Criminal Law, viz. -
    1. Fraud by False Misrepresentation (Section 2, Fruad Act 2006); and
    2. Falsely Claiming to be Acting under the Authority of A Court (Section 135, County Courts Act 1984).

It is possible that more will surface.

Ring the magistrates court first thing tomorrow morning. I'm going to send you a PM.
Life is a journey on which we all travel, sometimes together, but never alone.

The council have the opinion that they are always right and if you dare question them they send in the bailiffs to harass and intimidate you into paying!
I'll let you into a secret that your appalling Council has not deigned to tell you - the brain-dead paper-shufflers and lobotomised keyboard monkeys in the council revenue collection department do not, in all likelihood, actually work for the council. Instead, they work for an "outsourcing" company called Crapita, also known as Capita, of which Equita is a wholly owned subsidiary.

That's the main reason you'll never get a straight answer from the Council Tax drones - they're simply not allowed to be honest!

Do you also owe Council Tax?

They cannot - lawfully - seize your motor-car (or door-mat!) for another person's alleged debt.
