    Hi all
This seems really complicated but I would welcome some help. Ii and ncurred two speeding fines and recieved a letter regarding one of them from PHILLIPS COLLECTIONS. On the 23rd april i e-mailed them and made an offer to pay £10.00 per week. On the 8th of May Ireceived a letter confirming my agreement, but they stated I had agreed to £16.00 on each fine, this I had not. Now it gets complicated, My computer was down so I did not recieve these until some time later. Also I found an e-mail dated 25thMay from them AGREEING to ACCEPT £20.00 per week AND asking me when I would like to start paying, and the method of how Iwas going to pay.By then I had already paid £26.00. On 27th April Irecieved a notice of distress from Phillips for both fines.
They had risen to £180 for one ref 6964307. And £150 for the other, ref no 697746. I phoned them and spoke to a lady who would not accept £10.00 for both accounts, but would accept £16.00 for them both.

So going by the last agreement they had sent me, Ihad paid an EXTRA £26.00. I made two further payments as agreed, baring in mind the Bank Holiday. Both of £16.00.

I was and am still confused as to what i should have been paying, but as i had not heard anything, and they acceepted the payments
i felt i was keeping my side of the agreement. On the 7th june i had a visit from a representative of phillips, when we told him all this he said he didnt really know why he was here ,but to ring them or e-mail them .We did this ,and spoke to a lady called tracey who said she would listen to the phone recordings and phone us today(7thjune) so far we have heard nothing .But when he left he gave us two notices of attendance.Fine no 6964307 had risen to 395.00 and fine 6977466 had gone up to 331.00. i have kept up my payments and feel this is an absolute outrage and they should not be allowed to put people through this.

Philips really do need to be investigated. This sounds very much like sharp practice bordering on the illegal. I would query the visit fees if the bailiff admitted he didn't know why he went to your home. If you have a witness to what he said, besides yourself, even better. Definitely query the visit fees.

Yes they are magistrates fines. My wife answered the door and dealt with him but I also spoke from upstairs. He ended by saying well Ill tell them your husband was not in. And the last Email THEY sent to me was letting me pay £10.00 per week on both fines, this means going by THEIR OWN figures I have OVERPAID by £18.00.

              Re: Phillips

Since the original offences have you moved house? Did you ever receive a Final Steps Notice from the Court which should have have given you a specific period of time to fetch your account back in order or if not then X, Y or Z may happen one of which may be Bailiff action?

                  Re: Phillips

If you did not receive the Further Steps Notice you must contact the Court ASAP and ask when it was sent. They work on the basis that if it was posted then you received it - however it seems that this may be a stock answer as they can never provide proof of posting.

If you have been paying this for a while you should send off Letter No 1 from http://www.legalbeagles.info/forums/...Useful-Letters
