  • Philips Bailliffs

    Hi

Wonder if i can grab some advice regarding Philips Bailiffs - i recently had a car speeding ticket for 160.00, in Feb and march my Nan was really poorly with cancer dying in late March during this period as you can expect everything went out of my head. However in April i promptly brought my account back up to date and currently only owe 20.00 on it - on Thursday last week i had a visit from the said Bailiffs asking for 340.00??? as yet i have made no contact with them, i have written an email to the court after a call them on Friday whereby they said it was passed to Phillips late April and not there problem now. From what i can gather this particular bailiff have a habit of adding fees and concocting lies to pray on venerable people. Can you please give me any advise about what to do next - the letter A Notice of Attendance offers no explanation as to the fees or a timescale as to when they will return.

    Any help is really appreciated

    thanks

    Ginny

    Re: Philips Bailliffs

Send Philips a Recorded Delivery Letter requesting a breakdown of the fees. Give them, say, seven calendar days from date of letter to provide you with the information you require. See what sort of response you get. If the bailiff or Philips inexplicably and suddenly reduce the fees to a small amount, your suspicions will be confirmed. If this proves to be the case, send a letter to the Court Manager at the court that imposed the fine, informing them of this, with a copy to the Ministry of Justice's Bailiff Department for their information. I would strongly advise against going down the Form 4 complaint route as the risk of being landed with a substantial costs order is high.
