  • Baliff want extra £215 for call out

    Hi All

    need some advice

I got a phone call yesterday of a very disgruntled parent saying that he'd had baliffs around at his house threatening him with forced entry and removal of goods.

no here is the confusing bit. its for a speeding fine that I had in 2008 and i no longer live at that address.

I have said that I am willing to pay the £360 from the previous letter but am not willing to pay the £575 with the call out as I didnt receive any letter til after the fact

please advise. do i have to pay the full £575

by the way the baliff company is Swift Credit

The £215 is a legitimate Attendance fee - they may put a further £85 Administration Fee on as well yet.

Your best bet given that you moved house and so did not receive the correspondance is to write to the Fines Officer at the Magistrates' Court explaining the situation.

Sadly, you may well be told you have to deal with the bailiffs, and at the end of the day it was your reponsibility to inform the court you had moved address.

It's worth trying, but it might be pushing it - sorry! :beagle:

As you no longer live there, they cannot do either of those.
