    Hi i am having trouble with a jacobs bailif we owe council tax but it is being paid off via a debt agency express debt solutions. Out of the blue jacobs are demanding more money so through eds we have told them we are paying the maximum we can afford now they are thretening removal of goods today. 2 years ago they obtained a walking possesion order before we started using eds we have not missed any payments and increesed the payments a few months ago to our maximum now they want money we havent got can they still remove goods and how far does forced entry go say i refuse to open the door can they break in?

    Contct your local council and find out what Liability Orders are outstanding and for how much each of them is. Also have a read of this:

    Do not let them in under any circumstances at all.

      Since you have already allowed them peaceful entry, technically they are allowed to break in, although it should be noted that a further warrant would be needed for this.

      Can you provide some background information please because that would help here?

        The levy made 2 years ago and not acted upon is considered to have been "abandoned" eg: a TV levied upon at that time that has subsequently become useless is of no value, they would need to gain access and carry out a further levy. If they are denied access then as VIP has said they would then need to obtain a warrant.

        As you have shown you are willing to pay the CT, the Council will have great difficulty convincing a Court to issue a warrant to to force entry, although Courts can issue such a warrant they seldom do so unless it can be shown the debtor is wilfully refusing to pay.
