I applaud the unemployed man who just told him to go away and shut the door.

Re: Bailiffs expose - undercover investigation

I finally got to see it. But it was merely a TV program in the end - interesting, and very entertaining in parts - so in that respect it lived up to expectations. But since when did a professionally produced and edited program such as this possess any more gravity than the edited highlights of last Saturdays footie match ?

From Marvin Gaye - "I Heard it Through the Grapevine"
People say believe half of what you see,
son, and none of what you hear...
Whilst I welcome newcomer Clunk's (and welcome to you, by the way) comments as much as I welcome M. Leclerc's riposte - I am interested in neither. It's like watching Alex F-f-ferguson and Arsene W-w-wenger performing an autopsy on a footie game on national TV. What on earth is the point ?

It was entertainment - and nothing more. If you're seeking truth and sincerity, then don't search for it on TV - and in particular, DON'T search for it on a Saturday night !!!

I come from below the Tropic of Watford, and Hounslow was part of my 'patch,' so maybe I'm being racist - but the biggest disappointment in this game of two halves for me was that we didn't get to see Rossendale's lady-in-charge telling us how "I were brought up on the streets of Salford, and we had the rent man knock on the door every week, and we paid him without fail. Am I gonna sack Mr. B ? Am I 'eck as like !!!"

The game went downhill for me when I realised we weren't going to hear that from her. I even got up from the sofa to go to the loo at one point.

Re: Bailiffs expose - undercover investigation

                HI
I remember that the bailiff issue was always on the media a few years ago and if you remember I was heavily involved in trying to limit their powers. There now seems to be a resurgence of awareness, and I for one welcome it.
There has been little exposure until lately and basically they have been able to carry on doing exactly what they like. We need programs like this to remind people what is going on every day and how the poorer of our society are being treated.
The Bailiff industry attracts bullies and thugs there is nothing new there, regulation is a joke no matter what anyone will tell you. The implementation of section 3 of the TCE Bill is imminent and then they will be able to force entry on a first visit. I don’t know the current situation but after this I am going to find out,(so for me anyway it succeeded) by the way there is also facility in the above bill for forcible restraint.
We need to make their actions more transparent, we need to place them under the same scrutiny as we do the police service for instance, where abuse or violence is jumped on by the media, and public pressure ensures the perpetrator is brought to book. A program like this is necessary to wake us all up to what is happening.
Only negative was Mr G appearance, what was that all about? I suppose that was the price they had to pay for using excerpts from the web site.
                Peter

I wouldn't be at all surprised if Mr Boast didn't end up boasting a concrete jacket at some point.

The councils that employ these people are as much to blame imho, they know full well these things go on and turn a blind eye.

It's colloquially known as 'truth and sincerity,' I believe, Peter.
I prefer the real thing - somewhat akin to the content of your recent post, compadré.

But, sure, if programs such as this promote public awareness without too much of a 'Jeremy Kyle' attitude, then I guess they have a use. Just as football does - the current 'Opium of the Masses' !!!

Whatever it takes to win the game - but, as always, where can you find a decent ref ?

Indeed so, Enaid. It's the 'powers that be' who allow all this to take place - and we have little say in who they are.
